January 2015 News & Events

January 30, 2015 By Not Just Quiltz

IMG_00000754 modesto winners b2015 is breezing by and we’ve had a tail wind. January had us in Modesto at the Heart of the Valley Quilt Show on Jan. 17 and 18. As this was only our second show we’ve done, we need to thank Ron Reynon, John McVey, Lady Bug Quilts in Manteca and all the guild volunteers who made the weekend so special. We made new friends who had never visited our store in Niles or never used Aboriginal fabrics in their quilts. We can’t wait to see the results! We love show and tell. At right, our door prize winners.

How not to be overwhelmed at the Pacific International Quilt Show (PIQF)

October 2, 2014 By Not Just Quiltz

PIQF is coming up soon, and as a veteran Quilt Show attendee, I wanted to offer a few words of advice, so that you can enjoy the show! As fun and exciting as these events are, they can also involve many hours on your feet, and an overwhelmingly stimulating array of visual and tactile experiences!

  1. Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes (please no high heels.)
  2. Bring a small camera. There will be lots of beautiful quilts to take pictures of. However, if marked “no photographs,” please restrain yourself.
  3. Drink lots of water and take breaks to keep your strength up (you’ll see plenty of chairs).
  4. Bring a few singles and $5 dollar bills as you will want to buy tickets on the beautiful guild opportunity quilts. We can all dream of winning, right?
  5. Set a course map to allow plenty of time to view the beautiful quilts on display. Remember, there is never enough time.
  6. You’ll see lots of vendors here klick für mehr info. If you know just what you want and find it, buy it. However, you’ll see so many new items, have a pocket notebook to write down the booth number, item and price for later reference.
  7. If you have time to attend more than one day, you may want to break the show up into shorter sessions. REMEMBER to have fun, enjoy yourself and vote for your favorite quilt.
  8. Lastly, you will also have the chance to attend classes and lectures by noted instructors (extra cost). Let us know of your experiences!

Visit the PIQF website for the latest event info.
